Satyapragyan secured his second
Grandmaster norm with a thumping win
over Uzbekistan Grandmaster Mikheil
Mchedlishvili in the eight round of the
4th Kolkata Open GM Chess Tournament at
Gorky Sadan in Kolkata today.
This was Satyapragyan’s third victory
against Grandmasters and he shared the
second place with GMs Viktor Laznicka
(Czech Republic) and Evgeny Postny
(Israel). He also secured his second
Grandmaster norm in the process.
Grandmasters Liem Le Quang (Vietnam) and
Anton Filippov (Uzbekistan) emerged
joint leaders with 6.5 points each.
He next meets English Grandmaster Nigel
Short (Elo 2706), who has been given the
second seed in the strongest tournament
of Asia.
