FAKE DGT
Chess Clocks - All State
Associations and affiliated clubs
are hereby notified not to
entertain these clocks
Dear Mr Sundar
FIDE has a commercial contract
with DGT in respect of the DGT
2010 clock. They alone are
permitted to use the FIDE logo. We
are informed by DGT that there is
a “clone” of the DGT clock
appearing on the market in India
under the name “NEW 2020”,
apparently attempting to copy the
DGT 2010 clock. I attach a picture
of the clone clock. The logo of
FIDE is used (though minimized on
the normal view but fully visible
in the mirrored view) on the cover
of the box, the statement “in full
accordance with FIDE laws of
chess” also can be found on the
cover.
DGT have asked us to contact your
federation to request you to take
all possible steps to assist DGT
in collecting information on the
producer and/or reseller(s) of
this product. FIDE is obliged to
ask for all assistance in this
matter.
Further we would like the AICF to
inform state federations and clubs
that this is an illegal copy of
the official FIDE chess clock and
that the technical quality of this
clock is inferior to the DGT 2010
clocks. A first scan of the
software shows that there are
flaws that make the claim that the
clock is in full accordance with
FIDE laws of chess incorrect.
I shall be glad if you will inform
me of progress.
Regards
David Jarrett
